Carbohydrate and Glycomimetic Chemistry

We are a research group focused on the study and development of carbohydrate chemistry and glycomimetics. Our laboratory specializes in investigating the structure, properties, and synthesis of carbohydrates and their analogues in order to understand their biological functions and therapeutic potential.

Our team is engaged in advanced methods of organic synthesis and modern analytical techniques that enable us to discover new insights into the chemistry and biology of carbohydrates. We collaborate with academic institutions, industrial partners, and other research laboratories on scientific projects and the development of innovative solutions.

Our main research areas include the study of carbohydrate structure and function in relation to biological processes, particularly their role in cell communication, biomolecular recognition, immune responses, and disease pathogenesis. A significant part of our research is also devoted to the development of glycomimetics—synthetic molecules that mimic the structure and function of carbohydrates and may find applications in medicine, for example in the development of new drugs, diagnostic tools, or vaccines.

In our laboratory, we combine advanced analytical methods such as mass spectrometry, chromatographic techniques, and nuclear magnetic resonance with organic synthesis and methods of chemical biology. This interdisciplinary approach enables us to investigate the biological potential of carbohydrates and their analogues and to contribute to the development of new bioactive molecules.
