Kamil Parkan is an Associate Professor of Organic Chemistry and Head of the Department of Chemistry of Natural Compounds at the University of Chemistry and Technology, Prague. His research focuses primarily on organic synthesis, carbohydrate chemistry, and the development of glycomimetics, especially C- and S-glycosides and other stable carbohydrate analogues with potential biological and therapeutic applications. A significant part of his research is also devoted to the design of galectin inhibitors and the study of biologically active carbohydrate structures.

He completed his doctoral studies in Organic Chemistry at UCT Prague. During his career, he undertook research stays at University of Colorado Boulder and Université Blaise Pascal. In 2010–2011, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry of the Czech Academy of Sciences.

Since 2024, he has served as Head of the Department of Chemistry of Natural Compounds at UCT Prague. He contributes to the teaching of several courses in organic and bioorganic chemistry and has long been involved in supervising bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral students.
